Paphos is an excellent base when archaeology and western Cyprus matter more than being closest to the eastern resort beaches. The key is choosing the right zone: Kato Paphos for the harbour and ancient sites, Pano Paphos or Old Town for urban life, and Coral Bay for a serviced sandy beach outside the city core.
Kato Paphos concentrates the harbour, medieval castle area and the UNESCO-listed Archaeological Park. The park preserves remains from the fourth century BC to the Middle Ages, including celebrated Roman mosaics in the Houses of Dionysos, Theseus, Aion and Orpheus.
The park currently lists seasonal daily hours, €4.50 admission and partial wheelchair access, but details can change. Use the exact map pin and daily priorities rather than assuming every address labelled Paphos is within an easy walk of the harbour.

How Should You Plan Transport and Day Trips?
Pafos Buses route 612 links the airport with Tombs of the Kings station via Poseidonos Avenue, route 613 runs to Karavella station, and route 615 connects Tombs of the Kings station with Coral Bay. Check live timetables, transfer points and the last return for your date, as schedules and journey times can change.
