There is no single best month for everyone. Late spring and autumn often suit walking, archaeology and mixed coast-and-culture trips, while summer to early autumn offers the warmest sea temperatures. Winter works for city life, quiet coastal walks and flexible road trips if you accept rain and cooler evenings.
Official guidance describes a long dry summer from mid-May to mid-October and mild winters from December to February. July and August are the hottest months. Conditions can differ sharply between the coast, the central plain and Troodos, so one island-wide temperature is never enough for planning.

For swimming, official averages place the open sea above 22°C from June to November and around 27°C in August. That does not guarantee calm water, comfortable conditions for every swimmer or operating lifeguards and beach services. Check wind, waves, flags and current marine advice on the day.
April and May bring pleasantly warm days, cooler nights, greener landscapes and flowers. March can suit longer country walks, while September and October keep strong swimming potential with cooler evenings later in the season.
